8 Pillars of women’s health

We believe the key to longevity is proactivity.
We evaluate, educate, and treat women across all 8 pillars of women’s health.

Cardiovascular Health

Women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed during a heart attack.1

That’s why we assess heart health through a female-specific lens — recognizing how pregnancy, hormones, and cardiovascular fitness shape risk differently in women.

Blood Pressure
Advanced Cardiac Biomarkers
VO2max Testing
Electrocardiography (ECG)
and 5 other data points...
Metabolic Health

Insulin resistance tends to increase during perimenopause.

At Lume, we adapt care to reflect changes in metabolism across life stages, offering individualized guidance for nutrition, movement, and lifestyle.

and 6 other data points...
Brain Health

Women make up nearly two-thirds of Alzheimer’s cases5, yet 45% of dementia risk factors are potentially modifiable.6

We incorporate a review of each of these risk factors into our assessments and help women implement strategies to minimize or eliminate them.

hearing & vision tests
sleep quality assessment
Electrocardiography (ECG)
Bone & Muscle Health

Bone and muscle loss begins in our 30s,2 long before most routine screenings.

Our focus is on long-term strength, function, and mobility to support health and independence through all stages of life.

strength + movement assessment by exercise physiologist
body composition DEXA scan
and 5 other data points...
Cancer Prevention

On average, women receive a cancer diagnosis 2.5 years later than men.3

We take a proactive approach to cancer screening, informed by early indicators, to help you stay on top of what matters most.

breast cancer screening
colon cancer screening
lung cancer screening
cervical cancer screening
Hormonal Health

Hormonal changes affect every system in the body.

That’s why we look at hormone health across the lifespan – from menstruation through menopause – offering both hormonal and non-hormonal strategies based on individual needs and goals.

menstrual management
birth control
postpartum care
peri/menopause symptom management
and 6 other data points...
Sexual Health

Only 64% of women report experiencing orgasm during their most recent sexual encounter.4

We view sexual health as a fundamental part of overall well-being, which is why we take a holistic approach that considers physical, emotional, and relational factors.

Psychological Well-being

Mental and emotional health are foundational to overall well-being.

We take a strengths-based approach grounded in positive psychology — supporting emotional resilience, meaningful relationships, purpose, and engagement to support women through life transitions.7

FAQ

Still have questions? We're here to help!

Can you be my new family doctor? Are you a replacement for my family doctor?

Lume Women + Health is a specialty clinic focusing on women's health in matters of disease prevention, hormonal care, pelvic health, and sexual wellness. We do not provide primary care, but we are very happy to collaborate with your primary care provider, or connect you with one of our community partners.

How do I transfer my records to Lume?

Simply sign our Release of Information form and we’ll request your records directly from your current executive health provider. Records are usually transferred securely within 30 days. You can also request a copy yourself—or download your records directly from your current provider’s patient portal—and share them with us.

Can you explain what “private” clinic means?

Our clinic believes that women benefit from a proactive, preventive approach to health and wellness, which includes care that is not covered by the OHIP system.  As such we have developed program offerings that combine certain OHIP-funded care, where appropriate, with non-OHIP funded care (coaching, health goal setting, wellness and prevention) that we believe is a needed  component of women’s healthcare.

What happens after my 12 week appt with my Lume physician?

After your 12 week follow up appointment with your Lume physician, you can choose to continue with Lume's Annual Membership (for an additional fee), or your physician can prepare a report for your family physician.
